Phlebotomy Technician (CPT)

Phlebotomy involves direct patient care and lab work. A phlebotomist will typically perform venipuncture, finger sticks, heel sticks, and point of care testing. They work closely with laboratory personnel to manage, process and transport collected specimens. Certified Phlebotomy Technicians work in a fast paced healthcare setting such as hospitals, labs, or clinics. Our small class size provides training on universal precautions, infection control, proper blood draw technique, and specimen handling. This course includes classroom theory, hands on blood draw, and an optional externship. Upon completion of the course a student can register to take the NHA certification exam at Cumberland Medical Institute. We encourage our phlebotomy students to take the EKG course as well to gain CPT/CET licenses.
